Thanks for your responses to my other questions. I will plan a night for all of us moms to get together to bid Arlene adieu. Until, then 1) if you knit, where do you buy your yarn and 2) do you know of any Nutcracker productions other than the SF Ballet? Thanks! |

| Shae September 30, 2009 12:43 PM PDT  Imagiknit at the Castro to buy Yarn, they are super helpful and will ball it or show you how to ball it there for free. My knitting lady tells me not to buy online as you cannot feel the wool, and that's important when you are working with it as you are feeling it for the term of the project. We did San Mateo last year, it was more affordable, they have a tea party afterwards, and photo's with all the characters. They had a choir before you went in and a break, it worked out beautifully. | ||

Indira loves it, it's okay if the kids wiggle around a bit and ask questions, and I think the best part is that they see little children up to "grown up" kids performing and that connects them to the show on a level that an all adult show sometimes doesn't. This year we might even break the mother/daughter tradition and take the boys along...maybe!! Smiley's has a minimum order of $50, and their prices are quite low, so it can sometimes be tough to get to $50. Our other source for yarn is at the annual Stitches Knitting Convention which is at the end of February in Santa Clara. | ||

Indira and I have made a mother-daughter tradition of attending the san francisco ballet school's nutcracker performance. this will be our 3rd year. it is at the cowell thater in fort mason. tix r around $20. in my phone now, will forward link when on the computer. | ||
